Family time ... all the time

I realized that I never got around to sharing our most recent family pictures. We got them done right before we moved and then it was just absolute chaos. I wanted to get pictures of my favorite live oak trees with spanish moss. It's one of the things I miss a lot. The mountains are great here but I love these trees. Here are a few of my favorites from our session with Kate Laraine Photography

         Funny thing about this picture. There was an alligator apparently right behind us and we didn’t even know. That’s Georgia for you folks. We joked later because Evan wanted to go find it when we were all done. We were almost “That Family” on the news about a dumb guy hunting alligators after his family pictures and then got eaten. Luckily, we all survived.

Outta my head

Seeing how Colorado decided to dump a truck load of snow on us twice this week. I decided to get this last outfit post up on the blog. Hope and pray for warmer weather so we can start doing some spring outfits.
I have no idea what day it is at this point or what month it is. It's constantly the same thing everyday. I'm not enjoying remote learning. It's quite the challenge. I give all the props to the parents who have multiple children doing this. I got one and I'm pulling my hair out. Even bigger props to the teachers who deal with everyones' kids at the same time for months on end. But I'm pretty sure the kids are on the best behavior for strangers. They leave the "good" stuff for us parents.
It's got me really thinking about getting a tutor. Buying teachers gifts well in advance for the end of the year. It's going to be a whole thing. I appreciate them so much.
 You know who else is being appreciated during this time? Stay at home moms. While husbands/dads had kind of an idea of what we dealt with on a daily basis. They get to live it full time now day in and day out. My hubby said and I quote " I never said it wasn't hard. But yes it's a lot harder than I thought."
All of us stay at home moms are cheering and rejoicing worldwide. We finally get the validation, the appreciation we've been wanting for years. A new day has dawned. Amen..Hallelujah!
I hope all you moms are hanging in there. I hope all you dads are hanging in there. I hope all you teachers, medical professionals are hanging in there. It's been such a bizarre time. Let me tell you a lot of feelings have come out. Being stuck in a house forces you to deal with said feelings.
Pray for me!
I hope you are all surviving.. Another week down.

Mad World

      How many of you are going a little insane already with this remote learning? Not just remote learning but the idea of homeschooling my tween who's pretty much already a full fledged teenager at this point. We've been doing it wrong this whole last week and half and are now playing catch up. I also hate math. My brain automatically shuts off when a math                    problem presents itself. Which is ironic seeing how I am nerd when it comes to our monthly budget. My need to solve a problem must overpower my hatred for math at that point I guess.

        It's Good Friday everyone and Easter is right around the corner. I hope you are all gearing up for your at home festivities and picking out your basic Easter outfits that no one will probably see.
              We are pretty much used to that anyway. We will miss going to actual church though. I hope everyone has a great Easter!

                                                                                                                                                                        He is Risen!

DIY Sunday Edition

I have a stockpile of DIY projects. I'm not sure what I was doing with my time in Georgia but I didn't get any of them done.  Well, with the exception of my entryway bench.
I just kept adding to my list.

I found the easiest projects to accomplish at home with what I had on hand to start off with.
I had a couple canvases for the kids to paint on {that post coming soon}
Then I had this lovely piece. I found some old spray paint in the basement that survived the move. I had some sandpaper and my task presented itself.
This piece came attached to our TV stand that we got a few years ago. I didn't want to throw it away because I had a vision for it. Time got away from me and I never did it.
After watching several DIY videos on youtube I finally felt motivated.

I waited for a nice sunny warm day and went outside. I removed all the cardboard and huge staples and started sanding away. The paint I had was a primer and paint combo so I didn't have to worry about priming it beforehand. However it did take more paint that anticipated. I had to bring it in for a few of the cold days while I waited for a time to snag a couple more cans from Home depot. Now with everything getting worse and more stores closing and limiting customers I'm glad I did it when I did.

PROJECT:
2 1/4 cans of Rustoleum all surface paint and primer in "Flat Chestnut"
Sandpaper
Flathead screwdriver  with help from the hubby for the difficult ones (to remove staples )

{BEFORE}

Voila! I give you my version of a blanket ladder! Just upcycled some packing material that's it. It can also probably be used for a planter outside. There's tons of different ideas. You just got to use your imagination.

{AFTER}

 Here's a list of my favorite DIY'ers

Friday Feels

Well, we just got word over here that we are officially not going back to school for the rest of the year. There are a few things that I didn't do beforehand that I'm happy with my decision now.

One: I'm glad I didn't sign little man up for preschool. I knew it was only going to be for a few months anyway and I didn't want to waste the money. We have already been homeschooling him since February. I'm thankful for that.
Two: I'm glad I didn't sign up for a ton of extra curricular activities it would've been another waste of money.
Three: I'm glad we moved when we did. I couldn't imagine having to do that now. Or not being able to say goodbye to our friends before leaving. I know for some military families that is the case and it's so hard.

Home schooling hasn't been all that bad so far. I think it's a lot easier when someone else has put together the curriculum for little miss. Which makes me just a glorified study hall monitor. It takes me back to my home school/charter days. I'm not even sure how I made it through jr high and high school.
On a side note I am putting together a blog post of all the ways we are getting through this quarantine life. Here's to hoping it ends sooner rather than later. This is nuts!
